The Paint Creek Trail is located in northeast Oakland County, Michigan. The southern terminus of the Paint Creek Trail is in the City of Rochester, adjacent to the Rochester Municipal Park. To access this location, you can map 400 Sixth Street, Rochester, Michigan, 48307. That address is for the City of Rochester Municipal Offices. The Rochester Municipal Park is located behind the office building. Enter the park over the footbridge, and veer to your right on the sidewalk (follow the sign). It will take you to the beginning of the Trail. We’ve created a map for your convenience: Trail Access Map – Through Rochester Municipal Park. If you start in Rochester, you will go north & northwest 8.9 miles to the end at Atwater Street. There is a slight 2% grade going north/northwest.
The northern terminus of the Paint Creek Trail is located in the Village of Lake Orion. The trail officially ends at Atwater Street, just east of M-24 (also known as Lapeer Road and Broadway Street). There is a 12 space parking lot located at the trailhead just south of Atwater Street behind the Kentucky Fried Chicken . If you would like directions, you can map 383 S Broadway St, Lake Orion, MI 48362. That address will take you to the KFC. The parking lot is located in the back, and there is a “Paint Creek Trail Parking” sign. We’ve created another map for your convenience: Lake Orion Trailhead Parking Map. If you start in Lake Orion, you will be going “downhill” as the grade drops by 2%. Just remember that when you turn around to go back – you’ll be pedaling a little harder on your way back to Lake Orion!
