2018 Trail Construction Update – April 16, 2018
We have confirmed that the Bid Letting for the Bridge project will be on May 4, 2018. That means a contractor will be chosen that day. We do not know the exact date, but based on the bid letting date, the trail will most likely be closed sometime during the week of June 4, 2018. We will post a definite date when we have one!

Trail Conditions Report: Trail surface is in good shape on most of the trail. The usual problem spots near Silver Bell, Gunn, and Clarkston/Kern have muddy areas. Have seen runners and cyclists all morning. Enjoy!

TRAIL CLOSURE REMINDER: The Paint Creek Trail will be closed between Dutton and Silver Bell all day on Thursday, March 22, and for half the day on Friday, March 23. Tree removal contractors will be on site removing trees in preparation for our Paint Creek Trail Bridge 33.7 replacement, tentatively scheduled to start in June 2018. Please plan your visit on Thursday and Friday accordingly.

DNR awards $515,000 in local funding for projects along Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail Nearly 30 projects spread across 18 different counties will share $515,000 in local funding to push forward trail enhancement projects and connections along Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail. In an effort to leverage funding to advance progress toward completion of this statewide trail, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has awarded $515,000 in local funding to 28 communities to help develop and enhance it. Trail Closure Update: Trail OPEN today
Trail Closure Update: The Paint Creek Trail will be OPEN today and tomorrow. The tree removal work scheduled for today has been postponed until Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23. We will post a reminder later in the week.
Trail Closure – Monday, March 19, 2018
Trail Closure Notice: The trail is tentatively scheduled to be closed to thru traffic at Bridge 33.7 (between Dutton and Silverbell) on Monday, March 19, 2018 and possibly Tuesday, March 20, 2018. A tree service company will be on site removing 22 trees near the bridge, in preparation for the bridge replacement in June. Please plan your visit to the trail accordingly. We will post more information as it becomes available.
2018 Trail Closure & Construction Alert
Paint Creek Trail is scheduled for two major construction projects in 2018. Bridge 33.7, which is located on the trail between Dutton and Silver Bell Roads, is scheduled to be replaced. This $750,000 project, which is being funded by a $300,0000 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant, a $300,000 Federal Transportation Alternatives Program grant, and a $150,000 cash match from Oakland Township Parks and Recreation, is scheduled to start in late Spring or early Summer 2018. Paint Creek Trail Labor Day Bridge Walk and Run – Monday, September 4, 2017
Our 12th Annual Labor Day Bridge Walk and Run will be on Monday, September 4, 2017. Choose a 2 mile round trip walk or a 10K round trip walk/run on the Paint Creek Trail. This is a free event, with a suggested donation of $5 per family for the Bike Lids for Kids Program. Where: Rochester Municipal Park – Kiwanis Pavilion (Pavilion is near the Children’s Playground on the southeast side of the park). Paint Creek Dam – Update – August 25, 2017
The repairs to the dam began. The temporary dams are in place, and there is no threat of the dam breaking. Work will continue thru mid September.
