Special Group Events

Interested in holding a group event or fundraiser on the trail this year?  You will need to fill out our Temporary Permit Application, and return it to the trail office.

A Temporary Use Permit is required for any organized activities utilizing the Paint Creek Trail including, but not limited to:

  • Walkathons
  • Fun Runs
  • Cycling competitions
  • Running competitions
  • Organized training
  • Commercial Use of Trail
  • Ongoing recreation classes or programs utilizing the Paint Creek Trail
  • Any event that advertises use of the Paint Creek Trail
  • Any event that requires vehicle access on the Paint Creek Trail
  • Any event where participation is controlled by donations or fees
  • Any activity that is beyond the scope of normal trail use

If your event includes utilizing any part of the Rochester Municipal Park ,including the Kiwanis Pavilion, you must fill out the City of Rochester’s Special Event Application.

  • Saturday, May 3, 2017 – Rochester Community Schools Foundation – Hometown Hustle.  The Rochester Community Schools Foundation is sponsoring its 12th Annual Hometown Hustle 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, May 3, 2017 to support academics, arts and athletic programs in Rochester Community Schools.  Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy the signs and variety of settings that make Rochester such a great place to live, work, and play.  Gather your family and friends and come out for a morning of good fun and healthy activity, in support of the students in Rochester Community Schools!    Call (248) 726-3190 for more information.
  • Saturday, May 6, 2017 – Motor City Brew Tours – Cruisin’ for the Trails Charity Bike Ride, benefiting Friends of the Paint Creek Trail.

  • Saturday, September 16, 2017 – Crossroads Pregnancy Bike for Life – Cyclists will utilize the trail starting in Rochester. Some riders will ride to Lake Orion and back, others will ride to the Paint Creek Cider Mill and back.  For more information, contact Alexandra at cpcalexp@gmail.com.
  • Sunday September 17, 2017 – Michigan Nature Association Rattlesnake Run 5k Run/Walk.  Michigan Nature Association started six decades ago as a small bird study group and became a statewide land conservation organization. MNA members, donors and volunteers have built a remarkable statewide network of more than 170 nature sanctuaries across Michigan. MNA is dedicated to permanently protecting land that provides critical habitat for rare, threatened and endangered species and natural communities.   • Sunday September 24, 2017 – Lole Rochester/Women’s Health Run 10 Feed 10.   RUN 10 FEED 10 started in 2012 with the hope of raising money and awareness for the dire hunger problem in America. The concept was a simple one. RUN a 10K and FEED 10 hungry people in your hometown.   • Saturday September 30, 2017 – Professional Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) Foundation 5K. A 1 Mile Family Walk and 5k Walk or Run to raise funds for police dog vests.  Starts at 9:30 am inside Rochester Municipal Park near the Kiwanis pavilion.  For more information, contact Ashley McMahon at ashley@plea.net.
  • Saturday, October 7, 2017 – Orion Township Firefighters Run with Fire 5k.  A 5k Run/Walk and free kids run to promote Fire Prevention Month and Fire Safety/Awareness hosted by the Orion Twp Fire Dept.  The 5k will start and finish in front of Orion Fire Station #1, will proceed thru Children’s Park and along the Paint Creek Trail. Medals to top finishers in age groups.   • Sunday, April 24, 2016 – RARA Earth Day 5K Run Run – Join Rochester Avon Recreational Authority in celebrating Earth Day at the 11th Annual MI EarthdayFest April 22- 24, 2016.  The 5K is a scenic loop route through the municipal park, the Paint Creek Trail and the neighboring subdivision.  All ages are welcome and the route is friendly for pets and strollers.  The race will be chip timed and have awards for each age division.  More info at: Rararecreation.org
