The Trailways Commission sponsors two major events each year – National Trails Day and the Labor Day Bridge Walk.  Other events are in conjunction with our Friends of the Paint Creek Trail group. The following official Trail events have been scheduled for 2023:

Paint Creek Junction Grand Opening National Trails Day – Saturday, June 3, 2023
16th Annual Labor Day Bridge Walk and Run Monday, September 4, 2023

National Trails Day is a national holiday celebrating trails as a recreation resource on the first Saturday in June every year. Previously the Friends group and the Paint Creek Trail hosted Tour de Trail – a cycling event that spanned the entire trail. This year, the Paint Creek Trail and Oakland Township Parks and Recreation are spending the day celebrating the opening of the Paint Creek Junction Park on Orion rd. A recognition ceremony will be held for all who helped to bring the park together. It was a great achievement in creating another access point for every trail user!

The Labor Day Bridge Walk is a walking & running event, open to all ages.  It is a free event, with suggested donations toward various trail improvement projects.

All events are staffed by members of the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail group.

Group events by various non-profits or organizations require permission to use the trail and require insurance.  Visit our Group Events page for more information.
