Bridge 33.7 – Sinkhole – July 25, 2018

Bridge 33.7 Update: Yesterday, we had a large sinkhole at the southern end of Bridge 33.7 on the Paint Creek Trail in Oakland Township. This is the middle bridge between Dutton and Silver Bell, and the one that is in the process of being replaced. It was supposed to be replaced this summer, but the bids came back too high and the project has been delayed until Spring 2019. Trail Conditions – May 8, 2018

Trail Conditions: Trail is in good shape. A few ruts here and there. Crews will be doing some minor tree removal work between Dutton and Silverbell today, tomorrow, and Thursday. The trail will have to be closed from 10am-1pm on Thursday, May 10 between Dutton and Silverbell for them to finish. Please plan accordingly.

TRAIL CLOSURE: MARCH 22 & 23

TRAIL CLOSURE REMINDER: The Paint Creek Trail will be closed between Dutton and Silver Bell all day on Thursday, March 22, and for half the day on Friday, March 23. Tree removal contractors will be on site removing trees in preparation for our Paint Creek Trail Bridge 33.7 replacement, tentatively scheduled to start in June 2018. Please plan your visit on Thursday and Friday accordingly.

Paint Creek Trail Receives Iron Belle Trail Grant!   DNR awards $515,000 in local funding for projects along Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail Nearly 30 projects spread across 18 different counties will share $515,000 in local funding to push forward trail enhancement projects and connections along Michigan’s Iron Belle Trail. In an effort to leverage funding to advance progress toward completion of this statewide trail, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has awarded $515,000 in local funding to 28 communities to help develop and enhance it.
